Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA) made a statement in Boston eight months ago when the organization gave Jewish activists an outlet. More than 300 members strong, JALSA continues to attract people of all ages to take responsibility for being politically active in the community and on Beacon Hill. JALSA is a progressive voice within the Jewish community, engaged in working on issues of social and economic justice, civil rights and constitutional liberties.

JALSA's event in July attracted new and established members. But now JALSA is focused on involving younger Bostonians.

At 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, an event for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s takes place at Temple Ohabei Shalom, 1187 Beacon St., Brookline. Jenni Lopez, from the "Leave No Child Behind" campaign, speaks on "The Unz Initiative: Why You Should Care About the Threat to Bilingual ' I Education." Pot‑luck desserts and appetizers will be served. Childcare will be provided.
