1)City of Newton: Rev. James Ford of the First Unitarian Society, speaking
36th annual Newton "Celebration of Love" honoring Dr. King.

the Foundation for Racial, Ethnic, and Religious Harmony,

2) Town of Brookline  Performance and Discussion

St. Paul’s Church, 15 St. Paul Street, Brookline

In December 1848, Ellen Craft, a light skinned Georgia slave,
dressed herself as a man and boarded a train bound for Savannah
on a run to freedom. Follow their journey north as Mrs. Craft tells
this powerful story filled with danger, narrow escapes, victory
and the love between a man and a woman united in their
determination to be free.

TIES THAT BIND: A Different Kind of Celebration for Martin Luther King Day

Monday, January 19, 4pm
First and Second Church, 66 Marlborough St., Boston

This annual concert is unMet's commitment to the
quiet spirit of human diversity, and is achieved interactively
between audience and performer.
It incorporates readings from Langston Hughes and Martin Luther King
interspersed with music from classical to spiritual and participation
through randomly selected members from the audience.
Tickets are 10.00 for adults, 5 for children and seniors.
First and Second Church is wheelchair accessible.
Opera unMet is an ethnically diverse and multi-generational
community-based opera company.
Fifty percent of unMet's soloists and board members are African American.
Recognizing that music connects people in personally profound ways,
