Honoring Arline Isaacson
Arline has worked closely with JALSA on two of our major public policy issues - support of public education and efforts to guarantee gay rights. As a member of the Governmental Services Department of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Arline has successfully protected the constitutional anti-aid amendment and prevented the diversion of public funds to private institutions. Arline is co-chair of the Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus, and a founder of MassEquality, the broad based coalition formed to protect equal marriage rights. She has worked for years to protect and expand civil rights. She currently provides leadership in the legislative efforts to prevent the addition of any discriminatory language on marriage into the state constitution.

Special Presentation to Holly Gunner
Holly's inspiration led to the creation of Temple Israel's Magen Mishpacha (literally Family Shield) which created panels and events to educate members of the Jewish community about the legal injustices that lesbian and gay couples and their families face every day. Magan Mishpacha speakers have traveled across the state, giving a "human" face to the debate on same-sex marriage. Holly serves on the Executive Committee of MassEquality and on the Board of the ACLU of Massachusetts.

Keynote Speaker
Renee Landers is the Immediate Past President of the Boston Bar Association, and led the organization as it took a prominent stand in support of equal marriage rights. She was the first woman of color and the first academic to serve as President.
